DISCREPANCIES IN BILLING OF RENT FREE RESIDENTIAL TELEPHONE CONNECTION PROVIDED TO THE BSNL ABSORBED PENSIONERS. The same issue was also taken up by us and AIBSNLREA. Reply received is enclosed herewith.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION OF DOT/BSNL RENT FREE CONNECTION

We were in receipt of numerous complaints from our members that in their SD DoT Rent Free Telephone, they have received bills showing huge amount and no one was in a position to clarify the situation.

We had therefore addressed a letter to the CMD BSNL vide our letter No. BPS/BDPA(I)/DoT-Phone/Excess Billing Dated 8th November, 2023 with a copy to Shri Govind Kewlani, Chief General Manager, ITPC, Poona. The issue was also simultaneously taken up by other Pensioners Associations.

Now, the DGM O/O CGM ITPC Pune vide his letter No: ITPC/WDC/CDR III/2023-24/DEC/01 Dated 15.12.2023 addressed to the CGM MH/GJ/MP/CH Telecom Circle has provided clear instructions on the subject of “ Billing of Telecom facilities provided to DOT Ofdfices/Officers/Officials – regarding”

It reads “ Also, it is to inform that those employees retired on or after 01.10.2000 were considered as “Retired BSNL’ category and no activity was performed for these connections. i.e. they are billed with rent free connections as per eligibility, considering above criteria and billing method which is different for “Retired DOT” and “ Retired BSNL” employees.

Now as per clarifications issued by the CMD BSNL New Delhi vide his letter dated 31.08/2022,Serial No. 6, DoT retirees’ bills, that is bills for Re DoT will be verified by the concerned CCA of the respective circle for pensioners and make payment.
