Court sentences 3-year imprisonment to ex-GM of BSNL in DA case.

A Delhi court  has sentenced three years imprisonment to Ajay Kumar Takkar, former General Manager of BSNL, Maharashtra circle and slapped fine of Rs five lakh for amassing disproportionate assets (DA) to the tune of Rs 17,34,706, a CBI statement said today.The Court has also sentenced one year jail along with fine of Rs one lakh to his wife Sandhya Takkar in connection with same case and confiscated two immovable properties located at Mumbai and one at Gautam Budh Nagar of Uttar Pradesh including a bank account maintained at Bank of India, Mumbai, it added.The CBI said it had registered a case on 27 September, 2004 against Takkar following allegations that during the period December, 1977 to 2004, he had acquired disproportionate assets to the tune of Rs 41,59,435. During investigation, a large number of immovable and movable assets were also identified.
