PENSION REVISION – DELHI HIGH COURT – STATUS

21 Apr

On 20.04.2026, Hon’ble. Justices of Bench No. 32 of Hon’ble Delhi High Court severely reprimanded Jr. Counsel, appearing for U.O.I for seeking further adjournment on the grounds that new Senior Counsel is not available since there has been a change of Counsel. Sr. Counsel of respondent side, Mr. Chibber informed the Hon’ble Court that the same argument was advanced by Jr. Counsel U.O.I on 30th. March, 2026 for seeking an adjournment.

The Bench specifically asked Jr. Counsel U.O.I, as to why the new Senior Counsel is not appearing today. Jr. Counsel for U.O.I mentioned that he is getting briefed about the whole matter. On this, the Hon’ble Bench reprimanded Jr. Counsel for U.O.I saying how many days it will take for Senior Counsel U.O.I to get apprised of the facts of the matter. It is not at all well taken, the Bench observed in an unpleasant manner. Mr. Chibber reiterated that adjournment after adjournment is being sought and that this is not acceptable.

The Hon’ble Bench warned Jr. Counsel for U.O.I that no more adjournment would be granted and posted the matter for 28th. April, 2026. Bench finally told Jr. Counsel U.O.I that in case Sr. Counsel for U.O.I is not available on 28th April, 2026, you will have to plead the case.
