SBI’S PENSIONERS’ AWARENESS PROGRAMME: AN INFORMATIVE AND FRUITFUL INTERACTION WITH SENIOR CITIZENS.

[7:55 am, 8/8/2026] Dinesh Mistry: A highly informative and useful Pensioners’ Awareness Programme was organized by the State Bank of India (SBI), Ahmedabad, at SilverCloud Hotel & Banquets, Ahmedabad, on 7th August 2026. The programme witnessed an enthusiastic participation of more than 150 pensioners representing BSNL & DOT Pensioners (India), Central Government Pensioners’ Association (CGPA), and P&T & Other Central Government Pensioners’ Association.

The programme provided a valuable opportunity for pensioners to interact directly with senior SBI officers, understand the banking facilities available to them and, equally importantly, share their experiences and difficulties.

A Warm and Respectful Beginning

The dignitaries representing the three Pensioners’ Associations — S/Shri D.D. Mistry, Gami and Mali — were warmly welcomed on the stage and invited to inaugurate the programme along with senior SBI officers.

The inauguration was marked by a thoughtful gesture of presenting saplings and shawls to the dignitaries, symbolizing respect for senior citizens and the importance of nurturing a healthy and caring society.

The programme began with a welcome address by the DGM, SBI, followed by an enlightening inaugural address by the General Manager-I. He explained the various banking facilities and services being offered by SBI for the benefit and convenience of pensioners and senior citizens.

Honouring the Super Senior Pensioners

One of the most touching moments of the programme was the special felicitation of Super Senior Pensioners.

Shri Gami, President, CGPA; Shri Mali, President, P&T & Other CG Pensioners’ Association; and Shri D.D. Mistry, General Secretary, BDPA (India) were honoured with shawls, followed by Shri Modi, aged 95 years, and other senior pensioners.

The gesture was warmly appreciated by the gathering and reflected the respect that society owes to its senior citizens.

BDPA (India) Members Directory – 2026 Presented

On the occasion, Shri D.D. Mistry, General Secretary, BDPA (India), presented the 6th Edition of the “BDPA (India) Members Directory – 2026”, along with the July 2026 issue of “BSNL Pensioners News”, to the SBI authorities.

Copies of the magazine were also distributed among the pensioners present, giving them an opportunity to remain informed about matters concerning the pensioners’ fraternity.

A Pensioners’ Association That Remains Accessible

During the interaction, Shri A.N. Patel, Executive President, BDPA (India), informed the General Manager, SBI, that the Association has its own office in Ahmedabad, which functions regularly from Monday to Friday.

The office provides a regular point of contact for pensioners and remains available to listen to and assist them with their grievances and difficulties.

YONO and Digital Banking Explained

The next session focused on the rapidly changing world of digital banking.

A detailed PowerPoint presentation was made by the AGM, Main Branch, followed by a presentation by the General Manager, Gandhinagar Pensioners’ Branch. The officers explained the various facilities available to pensioners through SBI, with special emphasis on YONO.

The features of YONO were explained in a simple manner so that senior citizens could understand how they could use digital banking facilities conveniently and safely.

For many pensioners, this was particularly useful as digital banking can sometimes appear complicated. The presentation helped remove apprehensions and encouraged them to make greater use of technology while remaining alert to possible risks.

Pensioners Speak — SBI Officers Listen

The Question & Answer session turned out to be one of the most engaging parts of the programme.
